“Be Still” Women’s Retreat
The Greater Houston Church women’s ministry is excited to have our very own retreat this spring! In just a few short weeks we will be traveling to Forest Glen Christian Camp outside of Huntsville, TX, to reconnect & refocus our spiritual lives. Many times we can be so overwhelmed or distracted by life that we become distant in our relationship with God. As women, we can be overly focused on meeting other people’s needs at our homes, jobs, and schools that we neglect our own need to “be still” before our Lord & Savior.
It is our hope and prayer that we can revitalize our connection with our Creator in the middle of His beautiful creation! The retreat facility is located in the Sam Houston National Forest on 286 acres. We have many exciting events planned including classes, prayer walks, entertainment & games, plus time to just “retreat”! Our meals are provided in a dining facility that overlooks a tranquil 24-acre lake. The setting is ideal for us to be able to worship our God away from our everyday lives and all the distractions that come with it.
We have opened the retreat to women in all our ministries including married, single, campus, high school and middle school (6th grade & up). We want to use the weekend to rekindle old friendships and start new ones. One of the blessings of God’s kingdom is our diversity and our ability to inspire one another through our examples, young and old! There is also a unique opportunity for mothers and daughters to spend special time growing in their spiritual maturity together.
Please take the time now to prepare and pray for a great retreat! Average temperatures for March in this area are a high of 71°F and a low of 50°F. Of course, we know that in southeastern Texas there is always a possibility of rain, so it is recommended you bring appropriate outerwear. Please see a more extensive list of what to bring below. Pray that nothing will hinder your ability to attend and enjoy our retreat.

Who: All women adult down to 6th grade; friends & visitors are welcome to join us
!
When: Saturday & Sunday, March 20-21st (optional night of fellowship on Friday, March 19th)
Where: Forest Glen Christian Camp, 34 Forest Glen, Huntsville, TX 77340.
Cost: $55 for adults; $45 for 6th grade through campus ministry
(This includes Saturday night lodging, Saturday lunch & dinner, Sunday breakfast, classes & activities)
$86 for anyone wanting to attend optional Friday night fellowship, Saturday breakfast plus the above amenities included with the regular retreat
Registration: Payment required at time of registration. Register in the foyer after Sunday services, at midweek services at the church building, or on the church website at

Registration deadline: March 15th (no refunds after this date)
What to bring: bedding (pillows, sleeping bag or sheets & blankets), toiletries, towels, flashlight, clothing/shoes for outdoor & indoor activities, Bible & notebook, music or props for open mic night & skits, board games or playing cards, camera, fishing equipment (if desired).
We will also have a purse exchange so bring a purse that you are no longer using to swap with someone else. Contact Laurie Lee for more information regarding the exchange.
Lodging Description: We will be staying in a 2-story lodge with 8 suites of 2 rooms each with 2 bunk beds per room. One bunk bed in each room has a full-size mattress on the bottom while all other mattresses are twin size. Showers & bathroom facilities are available in each suite.

Directions to Forest Glen from Houston
Proceed North on either I-45 or the Hardy Toll Road.
(The Hardy Toll Road merges with I-45 just south of The Woodlands; during the Friday afternoon rush the toll road will save you approx. 45 minutes.)
Continue North on I-45 to the exit for New Waverly (Exit #102).
Take the exit.
At the stop sign turn Right (East) onto FM 1375.
Proceed approx. ¾ mile to the stop sign. Turn Left (North) onto US75
Proceed on US 75 for approx. 5 miles.
Turn Right onto FM 2296.
Proceed for approx. 7 miles.
Turn Right onto Spur 2296 (also known as Watson Lake Road).
As you cross the multiple railroad tracks, note the big BLUE Forest Glen sign on the building on the Left. (Do not turn right immediately after crossing the railroad tracks).
Stay on this road for 6.5 miles. Follow the blue Forest Glen signs.
The pavement will end after about 2 miles.
From this point on you will be in the Sam Houston National Forest.
The roads will be all dirt and gravel.
There are BLUE FOREST GLEN signs at each intersection to direct you.
